FROM THE CHAIRMAN
by Joan Becker, Chairman, Howard County Republican Party
Welcome to the Howard County Republican Party. Who are we and what do we stand for? We are the original party of Abraham Lincoln. We believe in smaller limited government. In the words of the late President Reagan, “Government is not the solution, but the problem.” We believe in fiscal responsibility at the individual, county, state, and national level. We believe in personal responsibility and the protection of individual rights.
Never before in our history have the Republican beliefs in limited government, fiscal responsibility, and individual freedom become more relevant, as we face one of the worst economic crises that our country has experienced in decades. We are at a turning point in our country’s history as well as in our own party. Our democracy depends upon a strong two party system, and our economic prosperity upon a free and open market. Now is the time that we must remain faithful and vigilant in our beliefs and values and work towards bridging the gap between perception and reality. It is imperative that we initiate a grassroots effort to educate the electorate on who we are and what we stand for. We must ensure that our views and positions are heard. We must strive to elect more Republican officials who share our Republican beliefs and values.
But we need your help and involvement. The 2010 election is quickly approaching and the time to organize and rejuvenate our party is now. Please consider joining one of our committees or groups. We will be posting monthly activities on our website and we encourage you to get involved. It is only through a strong volunteer base that we can take back our county, state, and country, one vote at a time.
